Social value framework for a global design practice

A bespoke social value framework embedding social impact across the work of a global design practice, built with their teams rather than imposed on them.

The opportunity

A global design practice wanted social value to be more than a box-ticking exercise on individual bids. It needed a consistent, credible way to articulate and measure the social impact of its built environment work, and to make social value part of how its teams thought and designed.

What we did

We worked closely with people across the practice to understand how they actually work, then designed a social value framework tailored to their culture and project types rather than a generic toolkit, developing it collaboratively along with practical guidance and a measurement and reporting approach.

Why it mattered

Social value thinking became embedded in everyday practice, owned by teams across the business rather than sitting with a handful of specialists.

This project was delivered by Theodora and Georgia in a previous role.
